That official access is valuable. It is also deliberately scoped to the apps inside your account. It is not a competitor-research API.

Where Apple creates friction

Apple requires an App Store Connect account, appropriate account roles, API access approval, role-based key creation, and JWT authorization. Apple’s own setup guide states that the Account Holder requests API access and that approval is handled case by case. Read the setup requirements.

There is also a scope problem that setup cannot solve: you cannot use App Store Connect credentials to investigate a competitor’s public reviews. For product discovery, category research, or a cross-platform feedback workflow, you need another source.
